I'd recommend using a soldering iron to do that, as you want the heat localised around the battery. Also, if it is possible to change the battery, the resin would would need to be replaced so that the battery wasn't dislodged by the centrifugal forces whilst the wheel's in motion.

(I realise that you won't actually be re-using this sensor, but it would be good to approach dismantling it as if you were).
