Yup, 75Kg is typical. 4x4's can often take more, but a few cars (notably some 7 seaters) can take considerably less.
I'd tend to take the limit as gospel when towing a trailer, but I personally wouldn't get too stressed about the possibility of going a few kilos over with a bike rack. When you think about what a towbar regularly has to deal with (accelerating and braking a tonne or more of trailer) the dynamic up and down forces on the towbar are pretty trivial.
The biggest concern is overloading the rear axle, which can be done with nothing on the towbar at all (have you ever had a dozen large paving slabs in the boot?
) I'm not saying that anyone should take this as free license to hang 200 kilos of stuff off the towbar, but as long as the rear end of the car isn't riding too low with the bikes in place, I wouldn't worry unduly.
