Rear wiper - Is this normal?

I wouldn't normally worry but we're heading back towards the continual reainy season again so I thought I better look into this...

The rear wiper on the safrane has some odd characteristics.
When turned on it works fine - Wipes twice every cycle (which is odd but I got used to it). It's also about half the wiping speed of the megane rear wiper.

All is fine until about 10 minutes later when it is almost crawling up and down the rear windscreen (ok I know I shouldn't leave it on that long when moving forwards continually but I forget its on as its so quiet). So, its crawling up and down barely 1 or 2 degrees per second. Turn it off, leave it half hour and its back to normal.

Is this normal or is my motor faulty? I've never experienced anything like this with the megane or bravo though their wipers are both far smaller and faster..
