Considering the cost of a new box (as I found out on the Clio) it's a small price to pay if you can't find the problem yourself. I say this having shelled out for a rebuild after having a small oil leak & the auto light coming on occaisonally. As faultman says, check the speed sensor and all cables / connections first to make sure you've done all you can.
