I agree with the above.
The fault lies with the reversing light switch on the gear box.
As said they're easy to change and fairly cheap. Halfords to them for £12 and Reanult sell them for £19. There are 2 types, one for the 5 speed box and the other for the 6 speed. Only difference I could find between them was the thread size.
I had mine go on my lag, but haven't got around to changing it over yet so I can't comment on if you'll loose any
. I have heard that sometimes they tend to stop working because they fill with
, but how true this is I don't know.
Only difference I've had with mine to yours is, I can still start my car without touching the clutch if it's not in gear?? I was always under the impression there were 2 switches, one for reverse and the other for neutral. I could be wrong though.
