I agree with the above.

The fault lies with the reversing light switch on the gear box.

As said they're easy to change and fairly cheap. Halfords to them for 12 and Reanult sell them for 19. There are 2 types, one for the 5 speed box and the other for the 6 speed. Only difference I could find between them was the thread size.

I had mine go on my lag, but haven't got around to changing it over yet so I can't comment on if you'll loose any oil . I have heard that sometimes they tend to stop working because they fill with oil , but how true this is I don't know.

Only difference I've had with mine to yours is, I can still start my car without touching the clutch if it's not in gear?? I was always under the impression there were 2 switches, one for reverse and the other for neutral. I could be wrong though.

Currently in Mikey's garage:
