All of the electrical wizardry including the door sensors is factory fitted to this car, the computer has been de-programmed to prevent the key-less entry functioning at the factory and the car would only have been supplied with 2-button keycards.
You definitely have a small dark plastic window in the recess behind each door handle? I've never seen those on an L2 Phase 1 before - only ever on the Phase 2.
Before spending a truckload of money, please consider the fact that the Laguna handsfree card is a bit of a mixed bag. You effectively lose deadlocking and 'total closure' (they're still there, but only if you lock with the card, which means you also have to unlock with the card next time around.) What's more, if you want it programmed to work sensibly (so that all of the door sensors work) then you completely lose selective unlocking too.
And whatever you do, don't bury the card in the same pocket as your mobile phone, otherwise you'll find yourself standing there tugging at the handles while the car remains resolutely locked and passers by think you're trying to steal it. If you and your other half have cards, it's pot luck as to whose seat and mirror positions you'll get if you both approach the car at the same time. You end up doing a rather interesting little "I'll stand away from the car while you walk up to it" ritual so that it sets itself up right for whoever's actually driving.
