i think he means the second time he disconected the battery, he didnt charge it but just reconnected it again and it started.
if that is the case then i wouldnt suspect the battery being at fault.
is the engine turning over normaly when it doesnt start?
You are correct.
The engine turns over fine then starts when reconnected.
Leave the car for a while and it will not start.
It really does seem like the imobiliser as as there is n fuel or spark.
Lifting the leads off and back on again seems to reset it.
