Hi there.

As far as my limited knowledge would allow me, I don't think it will fail if the casing is intact and the glass remains intact within it.

If everything works, and its as you described above - I would get a PU adhesive called Tiger Seal (I've used this to reattach entire mirror casings to the door of cars I've worked on). Apply it sparingly and precisely and after around an hour, it will form a strong yet flexible bond.

You can purchase it for around 10.
