The problem with the Renault bonnet catches is primarily down to corrosion and whilst WD40 is a wonderful de-watering agent it is not very good as a corrosion prohibitor or lubricant.
A lithium based grease is likely to be much better and it tends to deter any moisture.
I use a spray can version of the stuff not only my bonnet catches but also on door locks, hinges, etc - seems to work a treat.
Does anyone know what Renault are supposed to apply
If the brakes are pulling to the left then the fault is likely to be on the opposite side
