My guess would be the box then.
Firstly, turn the ignition on without starting the engine, (stick it in gear, foot on brake, and press the start button) engage reverse, and have a good listen at the back of the car, you can hear the sensors ticking as they beam U/S pulses out. That should rule out sensors.
