Well that's the problem - I got time to get under the car and sure enough one of the rings has a clear crack in it.
Only problem now is that Renault don't appear to supply the rings separately, only as part of a new driveshaft
. If this had been the other side then I would not mind so much as the CV joint over there is clicking anyway.
Looks like I'm staring down the barrel of two drive shafts - woopee!

Don't buy them from the dealers. Look around at some motorfactors or try GSF car parts
