The switch for the brake lights on most cars is attached directly to the brake pedal or linkage to the brake servo, so you shouldn't need to remove any bits of trim.
However!! I've never done one on an Espace so I can't be certain.
On my Lag the switch is on the linkage to the servo in the passenger foot well, no need to remove anything just stick your head in and it's staring you in the face. Simple adjustment, should just be 2 nuts on the switch, slacken them off, screw in the switch closer to the pedal or linkage and tighten the 2 retaining nuts back up. JD
