Chugging low revs -emission light on

2002 Megane 1.4 16v 26,500 miles on clock
Help please.
From time to time less power at lower revs, also irratic running, however in the past this cleared after a bit.
Now emission light retained on. I thought it was dirt in carb. However tank always well filled. 1500 miles since service, air filter clean, exhaust looks clean also.
Renault garage wants 80 to put it on their computer WOW!

Saw the comment below- reference possible ignition coil fault. 43 each to buy!

Ran the suggested test, taking off a plug lead off at a time while engine running. First from left plug - when lead taken off engine stops. The same for plug 4. Plugs 2 &3 test engine keeps running and prior to plug removal.

Megane a super car, but R19 easier & cheaper to run I think.

Any thoughts gang? Ideas, spares etc.
