Yeah, the trouble is that the pads tend to eventually wear a groove in the drum, and even when the hub is turning freely, the pads won't clear the lip of the groove they've worn...

I had a hell of the time getting them off on my Lag, though thankfully the pistons had leaked and consequently the drums were full of lovely, slippery brake fluid
