I have a Kenwood HU, which came with the KCA-iP200 and KCA-BT200 module in an eBay deal.

After updating the HU firmware, I have no problem at all with full iPod control (of the iPhone) via the stereo, and the handsfreee works over bluetooth.

It seems a bit illogical to connect the iPhone to the stereo via a cable AND bluetooth, but it works fine - it pauses the music when a call comes in and charges the iPhone just fine. I'm not sure the iPhone even supports wired handsfree sets...

With the steering wheel controls (connected via an Autoleads kit), I can even scroll through the phonebook stored in the stereo and dial I never need to take my hands off the wheel, even though the iPhone lacks voice dialling
