Question Interior Footwell Lights Staying On!!

The footwell lights in my 2001 Laguna stay on while driving. I know they're supposed to dim after a few seconds but don't. It's becoming fairly distracting when driving at night.

I read another post which said it may be the card reader at fault and there was a link to a guide to fix/glue some broken plastic bit in the reader but the link doesn't work anymore.

Anyone had this problem or know how to fix it? (without shelling out for a new card reader or taking out the bulbs). I've already parted with a small fortune for a new drive shaft, front bearings and my intake valve needed refurbing, all in the last 3 weeks!

Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.
