Ideally the 185/55R15s should be replaced with 205/50R15 to retain almost the same rolling radius and therefore not affect the speedo and fuel computer, etc.
You can check this on sites such as Car Bibles
where you can type in various tyre sizes and compare with alternatives. Some tyres manufacturers sites also have conversion systems.
Having seen the comment about the larger thread being "draggy", I'm probably going to stick with the 185/55s but get some with rim protection to save my alloys further damage (chewed up when I bought the car in July honest!).
