I will ask them to put any statement about the visit into writing... my insurance company will be inspecting the car at the same time so it could be interesting...
If you can't be sure that Renault will give you access to the report or cover anything up then it would be worth taking an independant mechanic (that could provide you a report for possible use in court) to inspect it at the same time. It is unfortunate that it can't be checked before as when it is checked it could disturb any problem.
