If you replace with a new unit, you should just get away with the
. This will be coded to match all of the other units using CLIP.
The problem is that the units can only be coded once (a security feature - primarily securing a flow of cash into Renault's bank accounts.) If you're replacing with a donor unit from a scrap vehicle, you have to transplant all manner of other things, including the
, steering lock and key cards, effectively giving your car the electronic identity of the donor. You won't need CLIP to activate this system, but you'll probably still need it to enable or disable various features on the
unless the donor vehicle is of exactly the same spec as yours.
