I fitted mine then ran the cable under the plastic trim next to carpet all the way to the rear tracking it under the rubber seals round rear hatch then popped back the head lining just to rear of shark fin placed magnet on my hand and slipped it under headlininging its now between headlining and roof stuck fast and picking up 9-10 Sats been working perfect now for 12mths.
The GPS antenna I got did come with a 5m cable but I'm sure now that it is not very good. It seems quite directional.

I've bought a replacement shark fin and tested it off the car and is seems fine. I'll fit this later this week.

I must have a different version of the GPS unit than you because mine is only capable of receiving 8 satellites maximum and only ever says >3 on the display.
