Question Espace IV heater resistor location

I wonder if any other Espace IV owners have had a failure on the heater blower resistors like has happened to earlier models?
My Espace IV 2003 3.0 Dci has been a good workhorse for the last three years but recently, the climate control went off intermittently and then failed completely. Now there is no hot or cold air or blower motor and winter is approaching.
All the fuses and relays I can access are OK (and they are well hidden) so I am left wondering if the resistors have burned out.
The only problem is that it is a "dash out" fix and the main dealer wants 420 to replace the resistor.
Has anyone tried to change a resistor on this model or even just remove the dash for another reason. Please give me some clues. I am a competent electrician but a bit hesitant to delve into the dash without asking around first.
