Although the diagnostic equipment showed 30 faults it doesn't mean the car has those faults. The ECU tends to store faults unless they are cleared from its memory. Something as simple as running out of fuel could store a fault but not make any difference to the running of the car. Was the breakdown guy able to get the car going again and did he say what caused it to stop.
Just because the car has stored faults doen't mean it is duff but may have had a chequered past whereby it wasn't properly maintained or repaired correctly. That wouldn't necessarily be the cars fault but either the previous owner or whoever done the repairs could be to blame. I understand your frustration regarding the car and I suggest you take it back to whoever you bought it from
