Thumbs up Renault Scenic II - Bodywork - Tailgate Window - Useful ? Yes ! I missing the plot or what?

Ive got an opening tailgate window on my French Wheelie-Bin and I have tried to figure out how it is useful when the rear cover is left in place. With the cover in place you can just about slip a wet halibut down the gap in the folded back bit of the cover. You cant lift the full cover because it catches on the c-pillars (or is it d-pillars ). So the only use I can see is if I leave the cover out completely...true or false?

I know Im being a bit humerous, but seriously it has made me wonder how useful it was meant to be, especially with it being relatively high up.... unlike the Modus boot shute.
