Hi there, sorry to hear of your problems.
Can you give some more details regarding the car?
Age, mileage, service history, number of previous owners, purchased from a garage/privately.
This information will assist any and all of the forum members in their quest to help/advise you.
The Clio is a very popular choice for the private motorist, plus a common car for driving instructors - given how stringent the Driving Standards Agency is regarding test cars - I can't see a 'death trap' being appropriate for this purpose.
Regarding 'bad reviews', well in my experience - people are much more likely to condemn, than praise. It also needs to be put in perspective to the number of Clios on the road. I'm also fairly sure that not all
of those writing on such websites will be entirely honest about how much they have contributed to any faults through abuse/neglect.
The only real 'safety issue' that I can remember is the bonnet catch failing.
All the best with your car.
P.S. Just re-read your post - you say that it failed with the same fault around one hour after it was 'fixed'?
It sounds more like a poor repair, rather than a poor car, to me at least.
