Well after getting in to the car and giving it a 30 min spin the darn thing still didn't want to comply with any requests to lock.
Just as you said Horatio give the car 30 mins and all should be ok. I cursed it once more went in doors calling it all the names under the sun, as if it would really help, then gave it another go and you wouldn't Adam and Eve it the blips are locking the car up...Hooray.
Obviously something is still amiss with the spinning barrel and what's bound to be an intermittent fault with the receiver or other pertinent locking component.
The spinning barrel info was what I needed to hear as I wasn't too sure why it did it so thanks again Horatio.
Just need to find out the costs to replace the part/s and get ready for some work (great time of year for it too)
