Faulty Steering

Hi, New to this forum posting, so be gentle. I bought a 2004 Renault Megane Dynamique VVT Convertible 1998 in April this year. Its been brilliant until this morning. Left home O.K. Drove O.K. Went to pull away after shopping and the steering was faulty. Service light flashing. Stop light on and Steering fault showing on the dash board. Felt like the power steering had gone. Looked under the car to see if fluid leaked, but no signs of that. Drove it to the local garage who tried it an hour later and said it drove fine. Is it possible the cold could have affected the steering or could there be a possible electrical fault. I've driven the car twice after this happened and it seems to be o.k. Any advice welcome. Scotty
