Some of the Renault fit alarms have an LED bulb which flashes after activation and can be read to show which aspect of the system has activated. Unfortunately these can be buried behind upholstery, etc.and finding the darn thing can be the problem. They asked you to remove the furry dice, etc, in order to eliminate the risk of activating the interior motion sensors which are air pressure sensitive. My neighbour had a similar problem on his LagII and was traced to the bonnet contact button - we taped it down for a couple of days and the problem ceased.
As a matter of interest does the problem occur after its been raining
