What exactly did you have fitted?

Sounds as though either the pad material(not rubber!) is too hard or the brakes haven't been bed in properly causing the discs and pads to 'glaze over'.

I'd take it back to the garage that carried out the job asap.If the brakes aren't right,then don't use the car.......

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
