I had this! If the car has the sensor wipers- if you leave the wipers on intermittent and then switch off the ignition and then start it again without parking the column switch, they don't work. Switching off and then back to intermittent cures this, but they are a bit temperamental IMHO- ordinary intermittent wipers are much better! If it's anything else i have no idea!
