Blimey, what a thread to miss!

Tiff: It would be nice if you had a little respect for people just because they choose a different mode of transport than yourself. I am sorry to here about your child, but I am sure that more innocent people are injured or killed by car drivers than bike riders and I am sure you wouldn't condone a blanket ban on cars.

I posted this the other day, it might make you think if you could spare a few seconds to read it.

Just a Biker

As far as knocking over 4 bikes goes, it sounds like you have absolutely no respect for other peoples property, but I bet you would go mad if some scrote keyed your car.

Back to the topic. The current VED system for bikes (or bycycles as they are known on the tax disc!) is a little outdated, but once again the government appears to be putting forward a half baked plan that makes everyone think they are being fleeced.....again!

My 650cc is 66 per year, which is the same as my cousin's 1800cc Maybe a sliding scale would make sense, but I think it should be less than the sliding scale for cars, as bikes cause less wear and tear on the roads.

One thing that I do strongly believe is that it should NOT be in the tank...... yes you did read that correctly! My reason for this is simple. VED is a clear tax, you know exactly how much it is costing you. There is already tax in addition to VAT on fuel, but how many of us really know how much tax we are paying at the pumps? Moving the tax to the pumps will simply hide the tax. Before you know it, Mr average 10k per year in his Mundano will be paying 500+ per year extra at the pumps without even realising it, whereas if they darerd to put his VED up to 500 there would be an outcry.

Sorry for the long post, hope you made it to the end!

Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow...
