NOISES, is it normal for the steering to make weird clonking and groaning noises all the time, sounds like something twanging under there.

No, those noises, thatís not normal at all.

WHISTLING, the intercooler has apparently been changed because when I test drove it it was whistling, it still is. Is this normal?

That isnít the intercooler thatís whistling thatís got to be the turbo , I sincerely hope you have a good warranty your looking at upwards of £2000.00 from a Renault dealer, and that assuming you don't end up sooner or later with a turbo that doesn't consume its own engine oil , In which case I've seen on here tonight, around £7,500.00 for a new engine & turbo

VENTILATION, do you find that if you want to clear your windscreen on a wet morning its better to not bother sticking the demister on as it causes more bother? Is it worth putting the heater on when its cold? The blower makes loads of noise, but thats all, hardly any blow!!
The screen + windows clearing on mine is very good, the in car heating is very good too, but I find it a bit disappointing around the feet, maybe this is just me.

BRAKES, how many of you have a hissing from the brakes when you press the pedal. The brakes haven't failed yet, but need pumping up to regain pedal feel, garage says this is normal!

They are talking through their b
On this issue alone I'd write a letter of complaint to the MD of the garage, then be prepared to follow this up with further complaints through trading standards, there isn't anyway, anyone! dealer or not, should be selling a car with major safety defects.

REVERSE GEAR, do any of you out there have trouble getting reverse gear when first starting up on a morning? Garage says its a Renault and they are all like that.
They are telling you porkies theyíre not like that at all, Iíve had eight Renaults in a row and never had one with a reverse gear problem.

Oh and one more thing, what sort of fuel economy is reasonable from the 2.2dci, I'm averaging 37ish, mainly motorway.

Fuel economy
It depends on the way you drive it, but on the motorway Iíd be expecting nearer 50 MPG in works traffic and none motorway, 34ish MPG

JC May the force be with you
Currently in hondo's garage:
