My daughter's key fob on her Y reg Clio has stopped working.
Renault garage thinks the key is knackered & wants about £150 to replace & code it.
Question: Should the central locking still operate normally with key used manually?
It doesn't, she has to lock each door individually, which leads me to think that there may be an issue with the central locking mechanism rather than the key?
Is there any test I can do to the central locking system to prove it?

Yes the switch inside still operates the doors & boot
That will rule out the central locking then.
I am guessing that it is an IR(Infrared Remote), do you have a sensor near the interior light?
