Throttle pot light

I've got a 2001 Scenic RXE 2.0 petrol. Had the throttle potentiometer light intermittently come on when starting a while back, a Renault dealership changed the throttle body and the problem went away. A couple of years later the same problem has started happening - the light comes on when the ignition is first switched on. A few turns of the key (off/on) usually make the light go out and the car starts/drives normally.

The last time this happened, the light didn't go out, but the garage could find no fault once the fault codes were cleared, and the car started and ran normally.

This evening the light came on and the engine immediately cut out whilst I was driving (it's only ever done this when starting before). Off/on, able to drive it again but 5 mins later did the same thing. Managed to get home , again driving normally (another 10 miles).

Is this definitely a thottle potentiometer problem or could it also be a symptom of a dodgy/dirty TDC sensor? The whole throttle assembly has to be replaced if it's the pot, which is somewhat expensive....

Thanks for any replies!
