Looks to me like either the car needs a good hard run up the road before the retest or the cat is getting weak.The Lambda readings are good,so I suspect the sensor is working OK.
I'd try the cheap option first,then if that doesn't work I'd source a cat.Have you ever had any problems with misfires on your car?.If you have,the unburnt fuel going through the cat has probably damaged it.
I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
