Actually,reading your post again(
) it could be the hole in the front pipe.Is it before or after the Lambda sensor?.If it's before it's probably fooling the sensor into thinking that the engine is running lean and it's adding fuel to compensate.
I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
