Having read all the reports on here regarding loss of blower speeds, which I have lost 1 and 2 on a 53 1.9dci .I decided to email Renault Customer Service last week .Today 22/04 no reply so phoned them spoke to a guy about the problem and mentioned they have a modification of new part loom and new resistor , I was told that Renault have no knowledge of this problem, HA HA
Now awaiting with baited breath for a call from the local Evans Halshaw Renault Dealership.

WATCH THIS SPACE: yawn:

UPDATE ON HEATER /RESISTOR POST
Recently rang RCService about loss of speeds 1& 2 on heater controls on my scenic II 53 reg 1.9dci after seeing various reports on renault forums. They told me they are not aware of problem ,After I mentioned that they had brought out a modified resistor and wiring loom section they then came up with a "deal " for the repair £120 for parts and £360 for labour knocking labour rate down from £80 an hour to £70 Total £480. I looked aound for a auto electrician and got the job done for £103 parts (from Renault)and £42.00 labour, took him 45 mins job done. Guys shop around only buy parts from renault if cant get elsewhere, that way you dont have to remortgage your house

Just had the heater blower resistor loom replaced after failure (common fault) on 54 plate scenic 1.9dci. Quoted £260 by Renault as it is the Climate control type not the standard aircon model (£450 quoted). Mine was actually a cheaper fix. Complained via Renault customer service - stood my ground and got fixed for £71 incl vat (my share). Threatened them with VOSA as is unsafe and would mean a costly recall no doubt.

Now they want to help with faulty ABS, faulty Airbags and dodgy water pump as I have the ability to pursue it through my companies lawyers.

Best advice NEVER BUY FRENCH! If it is too late - just stand your ground.

When the resistor pack goes belly up on any car
and quite a lot seem to always check the pollen filter
if its dirty it restricts air flow and the resistor pack
over heats.

the tecnicians know of this fault ,same as any good auto electrician
if you by the parts £103.88 [for upgrade loom and resistor pack],off the shelf from renault dealer an auto-electrician will charge about £50-70.,to install it.
then contact renault cc again ,and vosa for vehicle defect form, keep dud parts for evidence to send on through vosa,THIS IS A WELL KNOWN FAULT IN THE TRADE!!!!!.

Hi, I know this an old post but hopefully somebody can help please. I have previously replaced the resister,(Grand Scenic 2 1.9dci) probably about a year ago which I thought had failed again but this time I can see where the plug has melted. I have obtained a new resister and modified loom, before I start to change it the modification appears to be 1 feed now feeding 2 terminals whereas before the feeds were on seperate wires. Do you just use one of the original cables and cap the other off, if so, does it matter which one you use?

Thanks
Phil
