Laguna II STOP Light

I drive a Laguna II (2002/51) 1.8 16V Dynamique Estate. I have had it parked up for a about 6 weeks whilst away at work. When I came back, the battery was dead as a dodo. Anyway, got the car started by jump starting it and now it is running fine, except the STOP warning light is permanantly illuminated. Does anyone know what causes this to illuminate, and any way of getting rid of it??? I know that it comes on with a flat tyre, but all sensors are showing healthy. Could it be a bit of damp in somewhere?? Any help would be appreciated!!! A quick note....someone (an RAC manny) did suggest disconnecting the battery pos and neg, and connecting together for 5 mins, and this may clear the problem. Sounds dodgy to me...anyone else heard of this???
