Sorry Tazzy, I'm not familiar with the layout of your car, so I can't help with locating fuses or relays. However, as you've tested and found no juice at the headlight units, the next thing I'd look at is the fuse (as stef123 suggested). Strange that it's not where the manual says.... a quick trip into the local Renault specialist or dealer should cost you nothing just to ask where the fuse is located.

Testing for continuity is very easy with a multimeter, but like anythihng depends on what type you have. Simply, you select the symbol for ohms (which may also have a little "musical notes" symbol), place one multimeter probe on one end of the wire or circuit you're testing, the other probe on the other end, and if there's an unbroken circuit between the two points the meter will bleep or show a resistance reading less than infinity or "overrange".

It's easier for someone to show you than to explain it in mere words!!
