Dash blinked at me

Hey guys,

Just driving to Uni earlier and about half a mile from Home, headlights on, music on, steady throttle and the lights on the dash died completely for a second, then all of them (including Serv, Stop, Oil - every single one) came on, then went out except the relevant ones. The dials also zero's then went back to the relevant RPM and speed. It surprised me so can't think if the car died momentarily also, although I'm sure I would have noticed it. The music also continued throughout.

Having read this thread, I'm wondering if it was a spike and this "safety mechanism" cutting in? Out of faith in my little Clio I continued on the journey, without hitch.

What would you guys say? Is it worth getting the Battery/Alt tested? Any other things to check?

Also - before I got in, I noticed the NS wing mirror had been knocked in (kids with a ball nearby) and when I flipped it out and adjusted it, it was crunchy in comparison to the OS mirror - a sign of imminent failure perhaps?
