Are Renaults more expensive to fix?

I drive a 2001 Laguna II 1.6L and booked it in for a Cambelt replacement as advised by my garage, apparently they need replacing at 72k miles or 5yrs, which ever the sooner. A cost of £329.

I decided to have the MOT done at the same time and I just canít believe the cost to repair Renaults. I need both Rear Axel Bushes (£285) and Front Left Suspension Arm (£300), a three hour job.

I also needed Front Wiper Blades that can only be purchased from Renault and Iím looking at a bill of approximately £1000.

The cars only 5 years old. In the past year Iíve spent over £200 getting the drivers door lock replaced and £479 replacing the Steering lock (wouldnít allow the car to start).

Should it be costing this much, I think it would be cheaper to run a BMW. Donít think Iíll buy French again, heard the same comments about Peugeot.
