Question glowplug testing

can some one tell me how to test glowplugs pls

i have voltage going to the plugs but when cold i have to crank it

my glow plugs look new but i think some one has over tightened the nut and the center's spin

found this >>

A continuity test of glow-plugs is a waste of time - it will only tell you if a current will pass - not how much - which is the vital question. Either do a resistance test or take them out and check them on the bench using a battery to see if they glow and how quickly.

sounds silly but how much glow is there ment to be ? glow as in light a cig from it ? or just warm
