In 80% of TDC problems it ain't the sensor itself that is faulty but its electrical connections. Renault have modified this and now sell a modified connection when you buy a new TDC sensor. I have heard of people actually making permanent connection by soldering to cure this problem.
Dampness can also affect ignition electrics so it may be prudent to check the ignition leads and coil /s
