At what point does a Diesel become uneconomical?

Flicking through Autotrader looking at various cars and it came to me - with Diesel fuel prices above Petrol now, is there a point where if you do a certain number of low miles that a Diesel's economy is cancelled out byt he extra PPL?

What's making me ask is I've been thinking and I'll probably change cars after Uni (so 2011+) and was looking at the Seat Leon 2.0TDi DSG (Basically a Golf that looks nicer, is a bit rarer and is 3 IGs cheaper?! The Leon TDi Sport is 9, th Golf TDi Sport is 12 ) however at the mo I only do about 3k a year (I know this may change, but for sake of the question, lets say it stays at 3k) and so was wondering is it more economical to go Petrol and get the 2.0FSI (non- Turbo )?

Just one of my little technical Qs
