It's not uncommon for parts of a windscreen washer system to fail after forcing compressed air into the system as it was never designed to withstand the average pressures of most workshop airlines. And in some cases it will only jam any dirt firmer into wherever it has jammed. The best thing to do is to ensure the washer reservoir is scrupiously clean first and then then starting from the pump disconnect the plumbing at each connection and allow the pump to expel and dirt or muck and then move on to the next finishing at the jets. I have seen washer jets broken when air pressure is used and on one occassion seen a washer pumps and pipes blown off. For cleaning the jets I usually pull a strand of wire from a wire brush and use it to probe the jets as it is normally fine enough to rod it out without causing damage

Also remember the only way dirt can get into the washer sytem is via the filler neck of the reservoir so thats why it is important to ensure cleanliness during refills
