I'm posting this because I couldn't find details anywhere else and someone else may have use for it. I post in good faith. I'm no expert. I may have forgotten something or done something the wrong way. Follow at your own risk etc.

Scenic 2 full dashboard removal to allow heater blower fan replacement.

I can't see how it is possible to replace the fan blower in a Scenic 2 without removing the entire dashboard. There are 2 screws in the top of the housing and the fan must lift out from above.

2 novices (father and son) making it up as they go along. Took us about 8 hours to remove and replace, but most of the time was spent trying to work out how to remove electrical connectors, and to determine if parts that were reluctant to remove was due to a hidden screw we had missed or a stubborn clip that just needed a firm tug.
There are 3 types of T20 screws, flange head thread into metal, flange head thread into plastic, and round head thread into plastic. I should have counted the screws but I didn't. There was about 20-25 in total
Tools we used: M20 torx with 90 degree ratchet, screwdriver handle & short extension, electric screwdriver, long nose pliers for electrical connectors, small flat screwdriver (for prising off clips) bent coat hanger wire for fishing out lost cables, Gaffa tape. We also used a big clip on LED floodlight. Bright LED torch, electric fan heater on back seat to keep warm. (It's January and pouring with rain and we have no garage) and a good supply of tea and biscuits. I'm bigger than your average slob so I removed the passenger seat half way through to gain more room.
Hardest thing was working out how to release the multitude of different cable connector retainers.
Before starting. Purchase a replacement fan blower, find radio code, disconnect battery,
1. Unclip gear level console cover
a. Unclip gear lever gaiter from bottom (I broke ours). Gaiter and gear knob can remain attached to lever)
b. Prise off console cover
c. Remove switch housing from cover , no need to remove cables.

2. Remove lower centre console.
a. 2 screws under radio
b. Remove cigar lighter plug
c. 2 push clips at far end of each foot-well. The spacer box for the passenger side foot-well clip may come loose. Note orientation and position of this spacer box for re-fitting.

f. Pull thick red and black cables and guide fan plug through opening in side of binnacle. Ensure all cables are detached from dashboard and LCD retainers and guides.
g. With hindsight, I suspect it is not absolutely necessary to remove the LCD, but the dashboard is going to get a bit of rough manhandling so I suggest that for this minor step it's probably safer to remove this fragile item.

8. Remove upper dashboard
a. Remove the windscreen pillar covers, firm pull to unclip
b. Remove bottom pillar clip on driver's side
c. Prise off speaker grille on both sides
d. Clip out loudspeakers and disconnect cables (clips face towards the centre line of the windscreen)
e. Disconnect passenger airbag (if not done already -see 6e) NOTE I can't remember if there are 2 or 3 connectors for this and I now have a fault on the airbag yet to be investigated.

l. Try to remember the "feel"; and orientations of the next few stages. It will make re-assembly mush easier. Check there are no more screws (I think I have mentioned them all) Be aware of any connectors that may still be attached or snagged. Pull the entire dashboard away from the windscreen whilst lifting the near edge just far enough for the clips to disengage.
m. This bit is really a 2 person job. Remove the dashboard from the passenger side being careful not to damage the brown connector and cable on the passenger windscreen pillar. You will be glad you removed the driver's side lower pillar clip now.

n. Extract the dashboard through the passenger door. We needed to turn it upside down to do this.
o. Re-assembly is the reverse except for the following
i. Note in the photo that on a previous "Repair"; of the heater resistor pack the resistor unit was not correctly re-fitted. The forward tab was not engaged under the retainer.
ii. At the time of writing, I am getting a Check airbag, message. And I have a spare yellow/orange connector in the airbag vicinity so I've clearly missed something and will have to disassemble everything again next weekend to find it.
iii. Push the loudspeaker cables through the holes in the dash and prevent them from falling back through before final re-positioning of the dash
iv. Be very careful the loudspeakers don't fall through the holes in the dash when re-assembling.
v. Ensure the heater ducts are aligned before final repositioning of the dash.
vi. Remove the radio from the centre console before refitting (no special tool required)

I found it helped greatly to remove steering wheel and switch gear for indicators and lights (step 7 area) and then dash board easier to lift out - done (3 times now!!- heater and airbags replacement x2) takes me 3-4 hours to do full job as I know what goes where now :d

You are a true legend for writing this post! There I was with my blower motor, resistor pack and Haynes manual, ready to whip out the glovebox and stick my hand up the back of the dash to pull out the motor on my 07 megane scenic as per Haynes manual and all other posts elsewhere, only to find that's note the case!
Not sure what I would have done without this. Took me 7 1/2hrs on my own with an extra hand to drop the dash back in place. Would easily of been another hr or 2 without your detailed description to follow.
Very well done and thanks a million...

Hi excellent post ....a little aid to further ease the pain of a first (dash) removal..

Spend 30mins staring blankly at each electrical connector?. Then separate it correctly (you will dream of these things later!).

There are TWO connections to the passenger airbag ( both complete f******s to separate)
Go slowly ,lift the loose dash slightly , left hand side connection (yellow/blue) ,remove yellow cap, gentle prise each side., ---> slides out.

Drivers side connection :- lift yellow press in bit nearest airbag , slide out.

REMEMBER.... Reverse procedure! Else take it all out again.......go slowly ;)))

Good luck...

Prob will need airbag ECU reset ..no way around this! Get her credit card ready!?

Well, Thanks to this, took me 2 hours to get to the dash removal and remove the fan resistor card. Absolutely Brilliant. I did try the "Go behind the dash method" but couldn't reach. Thankyou!!

Legend!, thanks so much, I've managed to replace the resistor via under the dash (felt like a country vet!), but the issue is obvs more serious, so dash will come apart... ah, the fun of buying a $600AUD Scenic 2 from people that shouldnt have a car like this!...
i am no longer afraid!.... "iPPO" will live again!
cheers!
