Hi Guys, I was interested in this thread as I have a similar symptom on a 2001 scenic 1.6 16v. I do get a hissing noise from the bellows attached to the brake pedal which I have only recently noticed.
However, over a period of a couple of years we have experienced a complete loss of brake pedal pressure and stopability!
This has only happened about 3 times so completely random, after a couple of pumps with the foot restores the pedal to full functionality.
Its as if a seal leaked and then resealed itself???
I understand that it is likely to not be the servo system as that only assists the brakes..... so what are the bellows for on the pedal?
Has anyone resolved this issue?
If the bellows are hissing, then the servo is leaking. All the bellows do is protect the linkage from dirt and dust and are there for no other reason.
If the brake pedal goes to the floor on occasions, then the master cylinder is suspect too.
Have you had any work done on the brakes at all recently?.
I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
