Thanks all for your advise and help,

I have printed out the details of a recall that may be related to my issue(R/2006/078) I will keep you informed after I have spoken to renault. Thanks Ottoman..

To answer other queries.... Nobody has done any work on the brakes recently, I tend to most of the general maintenance & repairs so I know that they are in good nick!

To Madnoel10 - The hissing happens when pressing the foot pedal and whilst the servo appears to be working, I'm not sure if its working as well as it should be.....

And to LAGDTI's point ..I agree that I would suspect the master cylinder if I lose all brake pedal.

Has anyone changed the servo &master cylider on a 2001 Scenic? Renault have masterfully tucked it so far away that it looks like a B***h of a job!

Merry Christmas to one and all!
