I bow to your superior experience, but I've had a couple of cars in the past- a 4x4 Granada being one and a Citroen Xantia that required the ignition on and a specific sequence to do anything with regard to bleeding the brakes, nevermind changing fluid in the whole system. As I say, you may well know better than me- I would simply urge caution.
The Citroen Xantia runs a power brake set up so you have to have the engine running to bleed brakes,I think the Scorpio had a similar set up.
I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
