The colour ratings go from 4300k to 12000k. 4300k gives off the brightest, whitest light which is why it tends to be the choice for OE fitment. As you up the k range it gradually gets a bluer tinge to the colour output and also becomes less bright.

Bulbs advertised as "xenon" are generally just uprated standard bulbs whereas HID/xenon kits will include true xenon bulbs/ballasts and a wiring loom adaptor to your standard halogen bulbs.

You should be careful if fitting a true conversion kit because the heat output can damage reflectors and the plastic lens on headlight systems not designed to work with them.
