Lot of confusion in this thread so....

Halogen bulbs are normally fitted to most cars.

Xenon bulbs ( ordinary bulbs filled with xenon gas that makes them slightly brighter) can be fitted, cost around double the price of ordinary bulbs.

True Xenons are completely different, a DIY kit can be bought from 300 upwards, but a lot of other legal modifications must be carried out.

They need a ballast resister to just light them up, this produces 30,000 volts just to switch them on so can be dangerous to work on, also the cable from the ballast to the bulb is armoured because of this. The bulb when on only uses around 30 watts instead of 55watts on a normal bulb.
